“You don’t give thanks when you feel like it! You give thanks when you don’t feel like it, then ‘fore long, you’ll be feelin’ like it!” — Charles Stanley

“You don’t give thanks when you feel like it! You give thanks when you don’t feel like it, then ‘fore long, you’ll be feelin’ like it!” — Charles Stanley
Psalm 118:24
The cats help me with this one…except when the wonder twins are clawing me to ribbons. Then I might say an unthankful word or two.
hmm… Miss Susiekins. I appreciate the reminder. I wasn’t feeling too “rejoiceful” about today — just kind of woke up in a mood… then, read the Psalm. Now I’m workin on my thanking skills… π
I start every morning giving thanks. It sets the tone for the day. And, believe me, I don’t always feel grateful at that time of day, but giving thanks really does put me in a better frame of mind.
Whoa! Are those your curtains and did you take the photo TODAY?!!!
I swear, I took a photo of MY curtains…today…and was nearly ready to post, but remembered I had another post in the line-up and went with it first.
AND my “curtain post” has a slight creepy tinge to it, which makes this all the more creepy.
Of course if they’re not yours and you didn’t take it today then it’s hardly important at all.
*makes a salt ring around his desk chair*
I love that photo–the chipped paint at the top is what makes it work for me.
Oh, you didn’t want a critique of your photo? Guess I’ve been spending too much time on my photography forums again.
Happy Sunday, Susie!
bucky, pets are good at that — reminding us to be thankful, I mean. π Be careful out there!
kellikins, you have mad thanking skillz, I’ve seen them.
squirl, amen. I try to start each day the same way. Sometimes I forget, but mostly I don’t. π
mrB, well, now I wish that were my window, and taken today. But, no. It was taken in the summer, in a house in Vermont. But still, I posted it today, so there’s that . . .
shawkey, this might be my favorite non-people photo that I’ve ever taken. I’m glad you like it. π
Your bathroom is green, too?? So’s mine!! Well, the one in the master anyway. The kids’ one is dolphin blue and the downstairs bath is lavendar. But… what, you don’t stay up worrying about whether my color schemes match? π
Thanks for reminding me to be thankful. There is much deserving of gratitude in my life, and I’d do well to be more conscious of it.
Darn it. Oh well, timing is everything. Of course they also say that about location, location, location. They also say money changes everything. So I guess the moral to what THEY say is get you some money and buy a ticket to Vermont? No, no, that can’t be right.
shari, nope, this is a pic from the summer, at another house. My master bath is horrifying, nightmarish wallpaper — pink, green, iridescent, man-eating flowers. I appear to be unthankful for my bathroom wallpaper.
mrB, location. Yea, this was a nice location. I needed a pick-me-up today, and thinking of that place and time seemed like the thing to do.
I remember this beautiful photo! Happy – and thankful – Sunday, to you, susie.
*thinks Susie would appreciate some nice sounds and words from a Jonny Lang CD, “Turn Around”—which is rerrenced in the yet-to-be posted “curtain post”*
Happy Rejoicing Day.
Again, that one before was me. (other person in the house keeps hogging the computer….)
Blessings and peace, dear Susie.
Oh my goodness, I think we have matching wallpaper in our bathrooms! Not that I have taken the effort to remove it and paint it a pleasant color…like green…or periwinkle…
But I do rejoice that I have a bathroom, does that count?
My favorite is verse 14. π
I can’t tell you how this resonates, having just had a really tough conversation with Stumpy – who waited until AFTER I’d left her at school to e-mail me with a letter telling me how full of despair and crappy she feels about life, the universe and everything. We’re on the case now, the school and I, but I was feeling low so I came over here to read your Sunday post. It was a timely reminder, so thank you. π
Well, I started out saying I’m quite grateful for a steamy shower when my sinuses are hollering, but after reading the comments
I’m hearing Bing Crosby’s voice saying
“Vermont must be pretty this time of year”
even as I look out at our recent 10″ of snow, a day to shovel out, then another 4″ promised tomorrow.
the quote is either from _White Christmas_ or _Holiday Inn_
I get them mixed up cuz I’ve seen both of them so often.
Just popping in (a little late) to say Hi. Love the photo, Susie. Thankful for you, Susie. Sending hugs, or whatever you need at the moment. π
*psst curtain post is up*
I just love Dr. Stanley.
Love. Hugs. Prayers.
I’m thankful for beautiful light and walls that are painted green instead of white.
Life would be so much easier if simple concepts like this just “stuck.”
Thanks Susie :-).
htgt, happy almost Tuesday π
mrB, I like Jonny Lang. I’ll have to track that down.
gigglilliam, that’s OK, now when you comment, it’s a 2-fer π
ssnick, thank you, and the same backatcha.
kc, yes, rejoicing that we have bathrooms, that’s good. And yes, that’s a good verse — strenth, song and salvation. π
platy, you’re welcome. You and Stumpy are in my heart; I emailed you.
mrsDoF, I hope you’re back to normal/healthy soon.
karen, thank you; when I first read your comment, a hug was needed and gratefully accepted π
mrB, yep, got it. Milk toast?
ladybug, he is quite something. When I don’t make it to real church, his is one of the electronic churches I attend. “Bedside Baptist,” heheh
umutha, soon you’ll be coloring lots and lots of walls π
chchchchia, ain’t that the truth?
This is my first time here. I love this photo. It probably sounds crazy, but I was instantly reminded of something from childhood. Great pic.
Welcome, sarah. Sounds like it was a good memory. I hope so. π
