squirl, lawbrat and sharkey, I did mean Matthew, because it is a sparrow house, and the verses about the sparrow that Sharkey mentions. I have a very scientific way of choosing my scripture for the week. For example, this one, I was considering, along with one other possibility. When I went to get my Bible to confirm it, a piece of paper fell out of it. It was a note from my pastor to Jif, who was lay reader in church this past Sunday, and the note gave him this Matthew scripture that I had been thinking of. That did it. See, very scientific.
What I REALLY hope happens, though, is that people just take a notion to go nosing around in the Bible (or googling scripture!) on their own. So when I saw your comment, squirl, I didn't reply right away, because I thought, AHA! Some people will wonder, and they'll go looking up both passages, (YAY, LAWBRAT!) and they might even find something that God has to say to them. So, I love this. In my belief system, the Bible is a living book; the same verse will say one thing to me and something entirely different to the next person who reads it. That is why it is one of the most effective ways for God to communicate with us directly. Thanks, you guys, for checking in on Sundays. Our little chapel ;)

kranki, yes, sparrows. Sometimes finches, but just now sparrows :)

anon, thank you, I'm glad that was meaningful for you; and thanks on the handshake, too :)

CK, it's a couple of days later, but the pleasure of your visit lingers. I am wearing a big hat and white lace gloves, sitting on the veranda with a mint julep, just now :)

crayonbreath, I am not nearly that clever, but I thank you for thinking so ;)

lilsis, those are some mighty wise words, and they remind me of a scripture that I shall track down for another Sunday post. Thank you ;)

Susie, I read both the Matthew and John verses after reading squirls comment. I went farther in Matthew though. I found 10:35 to be what I needed to read today. There has always been a conflict with myself and mom with God. Every time I went to church I had joined a 'cult'. Regardless of the church, and none were 'cultish'. It wasent until I moved an hour away from her that I truly found God, and she couldnt diminish it. I found the Matthew verses you cited to be profound and uplifting.
Love,
Dawn
